As a Project Manager for Foodstuffs South Island Ltd I have contact with a great deal of building contractors throughout the South Island. I always try to source a local builder to carry out work on a supermarket in that particular region. When I discover a competent builder I will continue to use them. I employ McIntosh Builders to all our work at our local Foodstuffs stores in Mid Canterbury. They have proven themselves to be very reliable, trustworthy and there workmanship to be of a high quality. I would have no hesitation in recommending them to any future potential customers.

When undertaking our last project in Term 2, a roll growth classroom, we were introduced to John McIntosh of McIntosh Builders. Immediately we were impressed by McIntosh Builders ability to communicate and work with us on the plan for the new classroom. They listened to our education demands for our new classroom and worked our vision into reality so that it kept within budget and to the constraints of a practical build. Furthermore, from the moment the 1st stake went into the ground, our build went very smoothly and progressed superbly. This was a direct result of McIntosh Builders building management skills.

We are very satisfied with the work that McIntosh Builders did to complete some of renovations to our store. Our latest projects were our Delicatessen upgrade and Bakery extension. We all appreciated the extra effort that was put in by John and his team, which enabled us to still trade with very minimum disruption to our staff and customers. All the tradesmen that were used by McIntosh Builders were of a high standard, and now I am using them for my own business needs. We have since used McIntosh Builders for other work in our store.

Hinds School has recently undergone a 3 stage development programme involving McIntosh Builders for all of it. During all the projects we found Rushton Architects and McIntosh Builders to be a very efficient team. They communicated well and have worked together to ensure all our projects are finished to an extremely high standard whilst remaining within budget. Whilst working on site, McIntosh Builders have always kept a very clean worksite, well fenced and we have had no health and safety concerns. We have no trouble in recommending them.

McIntosh Builders were responsible for two projects at our site; the renovation of three classrooms and the construction of two new classrooms over the first half of this year. My role was as part of the planning and oversight team - this team included a building consultant and the architect. I had ongoing contact with John McIntosh and his site foreman. Our experience with McIntosh Builders has been entirely positive. From the outset of initial contacts we had a positive working relationship that met our needs. In terms of completion date, flexibility and responsiveness to our requirements i would wholly support their employment. I found the firm to have a high standard of communication which kept us in touch with developments and allowed us to modify where required, so that completion gave us the best possible result. The quality of the work is such that I would request their inclusion in any future work at our site. I recommend without reservation the employment of McIntosh Builders and am available for further contact if required.

To say the work required at Ashburton College was challenging to all the team involved with the project is an understatement. Alteration work in an education environment is never an easy task, made harder by the tight environmental restraints and financial conservativeness that comes with the responsibility to use government money wisely. Right from day one McIntosh Builders Commercial Division showed they were on the job to get the best result for their client, both financially and to deliver an end product that was exactly as required. They kept us well informed on progress, made suggestions as to recommended enhancements to the build, and showed complete flexibility as we saw opportunities to add further value to the final outcome. McIntosh Builders were an excellent company to work with from beginning to the very end, including assistance with "move in" day issues, making sure that the hand-over went smoothly and leaving our staff with feeling of total satisfaction for a long build, well completed.
